In and around Yangon

Day 1 – Yangon arrival and sightseeing by car
Arrive at Yangon International Airport to be welcomed by our tour guide. On the way to your hotel visit Lawka Chanthar Arbayar Laba Muni Buddha Image, better known as Kyauktawgyi. Check in to your hotel and begin Yangon sightseeing with a visit to Chauktatgyi, a colossal reclining Buddha, and Karaweik, a royal barge on Kandawgyi Lake. Next proceed to Yangon’s city centre, including Sule Pagoda at its heart alongside hundreds of beautiful colonial-era buildings. Visit Chinatown with its many markets before heading to the world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, where you can witness the amazing sight of its golden dome lighting up at sunset before returning to your hotel.

Day 2 – Yangon-Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock) by car
In the morning drive to Kyaikhtiyo, a pagoda with a huge, gold leaf-covered boulder perched delicately on the edge of a cliff. Arrive at Kinpun base camp and take a small bus one hour up the steep mountain road to the next camp. Continue on foot for another hour up steep paths before arriving at Golden Rock Pagoda. Once at the peak enjoy the breathtaking sight of the beautiful forested surroundings – suddenly the strenuous hike is well worth it! Alternatively, instead of hiking, you can be carried up the mountain on sedan chairs at extra cost.

Day 3 – Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock)-Bago-Yangon by car
After breakfast at your hotel, take a short half hour walk to a small cave. Also stop at the roadside shops to see rare products from the jungle. In the midmorning, drive down to the base camp and return to Yangon via Bago. Make a short visit of Bago town, including the market, Kanbawza Thardi Palace, Kalayani Sima (Ordination Hall), Shwemawdaw Pagoda, Shwethalyaung Pagoda and the town’s woodcarving Industry. Drive back to Yangon and return to your hotel.
Overnight: Yangon.
Day 4 Yangon-Thanlyin (Syriam)-Yangon for departure
After breakfast at hotel, take a half-day trip to Thanlyin (Syriam) across the Yangon River. Thanlyin is home to two splendid pagodas: Kyaikkauk Pagoda and Kyaikmawwin (Yele) Pagoda, situated on an island in the river. Meet local people at the Kyauktan Market and then proceed to Kyaikmawwin (Yele) Pagoda by boat before returning to Yangon. Proceed to Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) Market where you can buy many souvenirs before transferring to the airport for your departure flight.
