In and around Yangon

Day 1 – Yangon arrival and sightseeing
Arrive at Yangon International Airport to be welcomed by our station guide. Visit Kabar Aye (World Peace) Pagoda, Mahapasana Cave and Lawka Chanthar Arbayar Laba Muni Buddha Image, better known as Kyauktawgyi. Check in to your hotel.
Overnight: Yangon.
Day 2 – Yangon-Thanlyin (Syriam)-Yangon
In the morning begin your excursion to Thanlyin (Syriam), an important trading centre in the 17th century across the Yangon-Thanlyin bridge. Highlights are the ruins of old Portuguese buildings, Kyaikkhauk Pagoda and Kyauktan Pagoda, a pagoda on a small island in the river. After returning to Yangon, continue your sightseeing in the old colonial-style city centre, including the 2000-year-old Sule Pagoda, which is often described as the heart of Yangon. View the Yangon waterfront, including the Botahtaung Pagoda and the legendary Strand Hotel. Watch the traffic on the Yangon River, where everything from luxury cruise liners to boats laden with timber comes to berth regularly. Proceed to the magnificent reclining Buddha Chauk Htatgyi (reclining Buddha) and in the late afternoon stop at Karaweik hall on Kandawgyi Lake. Complete your first day in Myanmar with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda. Reputedly built 2600 years ago, during the Buddha’s lifetime, it is an amazing mix of pavilions, stupas, images and bells. This golden pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tonnes of pure gold.

Day 3 – Yangon-Departure
After breakfast at your hotel, visit the Chinese temple before shopping at the sprawling Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) Market, which boasts an abundance of stalls selling gems and jewellery, lacquerware, wood carvings, silverware, paintings and other handicrafts. The rest of the day is yours until you have to transfer to the airport for your international departure flight.
